FAQs

The Jersey City PS5 PTA is a not-for-profit local affiliate of the National PTA.

  • The NJSIAA has updated their athletic physical procedures for the 2024-2025 school year. Below is an explanation of the physical process required for trying out for a sport or becoming a team manager.

    1. Download the attached physical packet entitled "JCPS Physical Packet 2024"

    2. Bring this packet with you to your physical appointment. The physician's office should complete all portions of the packet and keep pages 1-4 of the completed packet in the file they maintain for the prospective student-athlete.

    3. Page 5 of the physical packet must be completed by the physician's office and submitted to Nurse Moulton at PS5. Please make sure all portions of the form are completed to avoid processing delays.

    4. Parents must log in to their parent portal on the Infinite Campus website and complete the registration process to electronically sign and submit the required forms that are no longer included as part of the physical packet (ex. concussion awareness, banned substance notification, etc.)

  • Where can I see my child’s assignments and grades:

Pre-K class assignments will be sent via a letter to your address at the end of August.

K-8 assignments are posted on Google Classroom, where parents can access the information if needed. Ask your teacher for your child’s google classroom email and pw.

To view your child’s grades in K-8, access Infinite Campus. If you don’t have a password, please contact the school to have your account ready. Parent-teacher conferences are 3 times a year but you can always schedule time with your child’s teacher to review your child’s progress, especially if the child has an IEP or 504 plan.

  • The main form of communication with teachers is via the teacher’s district email (@jcboe.org). The teacher will share his/her email during Open House night.

Teachers may use apps like Kaymbu, ClassTag, Class Dojo, Remind.  This is at the discretion of each teacher.

Some classes have a class parent that helps the teacher to disseminate information to parents.

The district also has 3 parent teacher conferences throughout the year (2 virtual and 1 in person). Please refer to the JCBOE calendar for the exact dates and times

  • What is delayed opening?

In the event of inclement weather (heavy rain or snow) the school start will be delayed to 10am. The district will announce delayed openings via robo call and email the evening before. We get it! Knowing at the last minute that your child starts school late is not ideal, but unfortunately, weather is unpredictable, especially in January and February.

What happens if I am late to pick up my child?

If you are late to pick up, please go to the auditorium to pick up your child. Your child will be seated at the back of the auditorium.

On holidays, please be on time to pick up your child as the teachers and staff also want to start their holiday.
